The Illusionist
Saturday, February 12, 2011
It is the third time now that mine and Jake's birthday party has been cancelled/postponed due to illness. Yes, the sickness is among us again! Everybody except my sister and, thankfully, Tom, has come down with strep throat. There has been much controversy as to it's source; dad suspects the mats at judo; Mom believes Jake to be the carrier. At any rate, up to yesterday it was planned that our family party, with our aunt, grandparents, and cousins, would be today, when suddenly our diagnosis put kibosh on that. While disappointed, I will attempt to be zen about it and be glad that this leaves me more essay planning time. Add watching Inception with the family to this, and the disaster is by no means without it's compensations. Still, the sickness itself! Someone has always been sick since Christmas. Will it never leave our house?

Musings upon starting a blog
Well!
When I decided to start this blog (on impulse the other day), I expected that it would be simple and straightforward. So it was- but the hard part was preventing it from appearing as my sister's blog (http://cleverconcoctions.blogspot.com/). After much wrestling and emotional trauma, The Illusionist is now in its current form, which I shall change as soon as possible to something better.
Who am I?
To provide some illusion of internet security, my name here shall be Laika. I have seven brothers and a sister, as well as two excellent parents, all of whom will soon have a page here under a pseudonym. (I expect that anyone who is actually reading will know all this already; however, illusions are my specialty). I am a self-prefessed loony, and proudly right-wing in my opinions. Some may say that that statement was redundant; others of different persuasions may declare the two clauses to be mutually incompatible, and so I must clarify.
Among my friends, I am one of the sillies; when serious, I use logical arguments to defend my political views. In some ways, thus, I lead a double life through my daily craziness and my serious take on the world around me (see title).
At any rate, this is not to be a political blog, but rather the blog of the life of a- person who prefers not to be categorized. If you are reading this, you doubtless know me and can make your own judgement, or if not can form your own opinion through my future posts.
Well, what am I still navel-gazing for? Let Life begin.
